Diemen Youth Orchestra – Diemen 800

To celebrate Diemen 800, Muziekschool Diemen is launching the Diemen Youth Orchestra: a new string ensemble for young violinists and cellists. In this orchestra, making music together is central — listening to each other, playing together, and above all enjoying music. The youth orchestra is intended for children aged 6 to 12 who play the violin or cello. During a series of rehearsals, we work towards performances in the community, contributing musically to the celebrations of 800 years of Diemen. Rehearsals take place on Saturdays from 16:30 to 17:45 at Theater de Omval (room 2.1) and start on April 11, 2026. The project consists of 12 rehearsals and a number of performances and is led by Hebe de Champeaux. The participation fee is €50. Students develop their ensemble skills, musicality, and self-confidence, and learn to respond to each other and to the conductor. In this way, they experience what it is like to be part of an orchestra — a valuable and enjoyable addition to their lessons. All students are welcome to join and gain experience in an orchestra. Yocanto choir

Are you between 7 and 18 years old and do you have a passion for singing? Then Yocanto is the choir for you! What makes Yocanto unique? Theatrical Approach: Yocanto is not just about singing, but also about the magic of the stage. Our talented young people bring different music styles to life with a touch of theater. Professional Guidance: Teacher Anna B. Kramer, an experienced music professional, teaches our singers the tricks of the trade. Guitar Ensemble

With the guitar ensemble led by Mieke Kooij you get the chance to play your guitar with others. In the ensemble lessons you will of course work on playing together, but also on presentation, sound and different styles of music. Furthermore, it is great fun to meet like-minded people and work towards the Christmas concert and the final concert. The lessons take place on a Monday from 18:00 to 19:00 in room 2.1. Percussion Ensemble

The percussion ensemble was created because percussion and drum teacher Maarten Rongen wanted to present all percussion students as one large group during his annual recital evening. Maarten finds playing together - in addition to the individual lessons - very important and wants the students to come into contact with other percussion instruments besides the drum and drum kit. Enthusiastic percussion students can participate in the percussion ensemble. Experienced percussionists who do not take percussion lessons at the Diemen Music School, but who do have sufficient knowledge and mastery of percussion instruments and notation, can also register for this ensemble at Music School Diemen The ensemble is led by percussion teacher and conductor Maarten Rongen. Because we are currently experiencing location problems for rehearsals, the ensemble's rehearsals are not taking place at the moment. We are working hard on a solution. String Ensemble

Our ensemble is a tapestry of violin and cello students from the Diemen music school and beyond, embracing a wide age range of 4 to 60 years. At this ensemble, we celebrate the joy of music-making. It’s not just about playing; it’s a journey of collaborative learning, mastering the art of playing by heart, and exploring a diverse array of musical genres suitable for all skill levels. Our ensemble shines during our annual Christmas and grand finale concerts, where the magic of our collective performance captivates all. We convene weekly on Fridays in room 2.1 at the Omval. For music school students, the annual fee is a modest 140 euros, while non-students contribute 160 euros. Music school Diemen also has a Junior String Ensemble for the very young.
