General Terms and Conditions Muziekschool Diemen – August 2024
1. Registration
Registration at Muziekschool Diemen takes place via the registration form. This can be completed via the website www.muziekschooldiemen.nl.
2. Placement
After receipt of the fully completed registration form, the placement will be processed. Placement can take place throughout the academic year: Upon placement, you will receive confirmation and a lesson agreement will be concluded. The lesson agreement and the lessons are personal and therefore non-transferable. The moment of placement is always taken as the first day of the month in which the music lessons commence. From the moment of placement for lessons, tuition fees are due.
3. Registration period
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the lesson agreement applies:
a. At the start at any time in the academic year up to and including the end of the academic year.
b. For courses with a specific duration/specifically determined number of lessons: for the duration of a course.
After that, the agreement is automatically terminated. To participate in a new course, a student must be registered again. The duration of a course year is equal to the school year of public education in Diemen. The holidays, start dates and lesson days can be found at holidays and days off.
4. Termination of the lesson agreement.
a. Cancellation before commencement
As long as you have not yet received confirmation of placement (oral or written), you can cancel free of charge. Cancellation can only be done in writing to the administration via info@muziekschooldiemen.nl.
b. Trial period in the first four weeks
If a course does not meet your expectations, you can cancel in writing during the first four weeks of the course. You will then only pay the costs for the lessons taken plus €25.00 administration costs.
c. Interim cancellation
Interim cancellation of the lesson agreement for a current course is not possible. No refund of the course fee can take place, except for the provisions under article 6 “Refund of course fee”.
The cancellation will only take effect after the student has received written confirmation.
5. Tuition fee
After placement, the tuition fee is due. For students who start later in the year, the course fee is calculated pro rata in months, based on the moment of placement. For students under 18, the parents/guardians required to pay. Students aged 18 and over are required to pay themselves. Please note: parents/guardians are liable for students under 18. The applicable rates are stated on the website: www.muziekschooldiemen.nl. If the course fee is not paid or not paid on time, all reasonable costs incurred to obtain payment out of court will be borne by the client (the student or, if under 18, his/her parents/guardians). The amount due will then be increased by € 37.50 for administration costs. Muziekschool Diemen is entitled to transfer the claim for collection if payment is not made. In that case, the client is liable for extrajudicial collection costs. If the tuition fee is not paid on time, the student may be refused access to the lessons. The lessons will only resume once the payment obligation has been met. Lessons missed in this way will not be made up and the tuition fee for these lessons will not be refunded.
6. Refund of tuition fee
Interim termination of the lesson agreement and refund of tuition fee will only take place at the written request of the student in the following cases:
a. Relocation of the student outside Diemen; upon presentation of a recent extract from the population register.
b. Long-term illness of the student; upon presentation of a medical certificate.
c. Unsuitability of the student; termination will take place in consultation between the teacher, parents/guardians/student and the board of Muziekschool Diemen.
7. Absence
In the event of the teacher being absent for more than one week, the student is entitled to a replacement lesson or a refund of the tuition fee for the period during which no lessons were received (after the first week). In the event of lessons being cancelled for more than 4 non-consecutive weeks caused by or on behalf of Muziekschool Diemen, the tuition fee will also be refunded (from the 5th lesson onwards). In the event of a tuition fee refund, the tuition fee will be recalculated at the end of the course and the lessons not taken will be refunded. In the event of the student’s absence, the lesson cannot be made up for scheduling reasons and no tuition fee will be refunded.
8. Holidays
No lessons will be given during Muziekschool Diemen holidays. Holidays will be aligned as much as possible with the holidays according to the Primary Education Region North timetable. The current holiday timetable will be published on the website of Muziekschool Diemen.
9. Teaching materials and learning resources
The costs for purchasing teaching materials and learning resources are at the expense of the student.
10. Liability
a. Property
Muziekschool Diemen accepts no liability for theft or loss of property of students and/or visitors.
b. Hearing protection
Hearing damage can already occur at 75 dB. Percussionists, brass and woodwind players and students who play in a pop band are particularly at risk. We therefore advise students, in consultation with their teacher, to purchase hearing protection. Muziekschool Diemen accepts no liability for any hearing damage.
11. Complaints and undesirable situations
For any complaints, you can contact the coordinator of Muziekschool Diemen via: coordinator@muziekschooldiemen.nl. We prefer to receive your complaint by e-mail. Following the complaint, a hearing will be held. Usually, a personal conversation follows, aimed at finding a solution.

12. GDPR
Muziekschool Diemen ensures that personal information of customers is treated in a good, confidential manner. In doing so, Muziekschool Diemen works in accordance with the conditions as set out in the General Data Protection Regulation.
